Seven states and territories have been selected to participate in an intensive State Technical Assistance Cohort (STAC) through the Center for Maternal Child Health and Medicaid Partnerships (CMMP)
Over the next 12 months, the STAC will provide American Samoa, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, New Mexico, Utah, and Washington with extensive individualized technical assistance (TA) and peer learning opportunities between members of their Medicaid, Title V and CHIP agencies to advance their maternal and child health (MCH) programs and pursue their individual state/territory-level goals. Working in partnership with the TA team, each state/territory will complete readiness assessments, establish a CMMP State Workgroup, and develop and implement an individualized action plan.
The CMMP, funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), is led by Altarum in close partnership with the Center for Health Care Strategies (CHCS), Family Voices, and the Association for Maternal and Child Health Programs (AMCHP). The CMMP is a 5-year program that supports state Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and Title V programs to effectively collaborate and advance MCH. In addition to the STAC, the CMMP offers numerous training and TA opportunities to all states, including direct, customized TA to improve interagency agreements (IAAs), advance innovative financing strategies, and build capacity for family engagement.
The STAC offers a unique opportunity for states to learn from one another, as well as from experts in the MCH field, to advance their specific programs. It will provide practical, meaningful tools and support to help participating states/territories address the needs of their MCH populations through improved collaboration and innovative strategies that align and maximize resources.
