The CDC Health Data Innovation Summit brings together key partners to learn about, and collaborate on, high-priority public health information challenges. Representatives from public health agencies, healthcare providers, community-based organizations, academic and research institutions, technology vendors, industry, and other organizations invested in health data challenges, are welcome.  At the Summit, Mandy K. Cohen, MD, MPH, the Director for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), will provide an introduction to CDC’s work in data modernization.

On Wednesday, September 27, Altarum’s Jim Kamp and Jeff Duncan of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services will present “Comparing FHIR Queried vs. Manually Submitted Birth Certificate Data: Lessons Learned” featuring recent work done with the state of Michigan (MDHHS) and three pilot hospitals. Attendees will learn more about phase one of the project and lessons from comparing FHIR queried vs. manually submitted birth certificate data.

For nearly two decades, Altarum has gained a deep understanding of the complexities of incorporating patient information from multiple sources while helping public health programs integrate data, developing FHIR solutions, collaborating with major EHR vendors, partnering with state, tribal, local, and territorial organizations, and working closely with interoperability standards organizations. Through our leadership of the HL7 Helios FHIR Accelerator for Public Health, we continue to raise the profile of standards-based interoperability in public health.
