Renee Schwalberg’s project work focuses on maternal and child health, children with special health care needs, and the presentation of quantitative data. She couples solid qualitative and quantitative analytic skills with the ability to present research findings in a professional and easy-to-understand format.
Ms. Schwalberg is the project director for Altarum's Maternal and Child Health Information Resource Center, which was established to strengthen the ability of maternal and child health policymakers at all levels to gather, analyze, and use data for effective decision-making. Ms. Schwalberg also directs the development of chartbooks to display key findings of major child health surveys, such as the National Survey of Children with Special Health Care Needs and the National Survey of Children's Health. She has also conducted extensive research on how to improve systems of care for children with special health care needs in a managed care environment, and she has conducted numerous studies of State Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Programs (CHIP) to provide health insurance to low-income children. Lastly, Ms. Schwalberg has served as the associate director of a project to conduct focus groups on CHIP and Medicaid in nine states as part of the national evaluation of CHIP.
Ms. Schwalberg has a bachelor's degree in sociology and history from Yale University and a master's degree in public health from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
