James Lee has been with Altarum Institute for more than 20 years. Prior to his current position, he was the director of Altarum's Medical Care Systems group. During his career, he has managed programs on public health informatics and health quality research projects. Many of these projects draw on administrative, financial accounting, and clinical data to support clinical trial, practice guideline, and program evaluations. His recent studies include evaluating the cost-effectiveness of alternative bladder cancer surveillance protocols; alternative tests to target therapy in metastatic breast cancer patients; a test to aid in prognosis of women presenting with pre-term labor; prophylaxis to prevent respiratory syncitial virus; and, prophylaxis to prevent septicemia, retinopathy of prematurity, and bronchopulmonary dysplaysia in low birth-weight infants.
Mr. Lee also recently served as a program manager to facilitate implementing public health information technology throughout the State of Michigan. These programs include statewide communicable disease surveillance systems, a health alert network, and a volunteer health professional registry.
Mr. Lee earned a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering and management science from Northwestern University, and he earned a master of science degree in industrial and operations engineering from the University of Michigan. Mr. Lee serves as an adjunct research associate at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy.
