These multimedia archives from the Altarum Institute WIC Food Package Evaluation Symposium include videos, presentation slides, and transcripts of the event. The evaluation symposium, held on November 30, 2010 in Washington, D.C., was a conference to aid researchers, policymakers, and program administrators in understanding the impact of the new WIC food package on participants, communities, and nutrition policy. The symposium provided a forum for researchers to share information with other researchers, policymakers, program administrators, and other interested parties, and to build on their efforts to better understand the effects of the new WIC food packages.
There are four separate presentations available:
Session 1: Impact on WIC Participants
This session features three presentations that focus on evaluation of changes in WIC participants’ food purchasing and consumption habits, as well as their response to nutrition education on the food choices provided in the new WIC food packages.
Session 2: Impact on WIC Vendors and the Food Environment
This session features four presentations on evaluation findings related to food retail stores and community environments after implementation of the new WIC food packages.
Session 3: Special Topics
This session features two presentations of evaluations that measured the effects of the WIC food package changes on subgroups of the WIC participant population.
