Altarum is supporting the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) in developing a research agenda in the emerging field of public health systems and services research (PHSSR). The field of PHSSR has been evolving over many years and is now at the forefront of discussions to examine and strengthen public health services. Altarum is providing a wide range of services to support this endeavor, from meeting facilitation to research support, to establish a sound base of evidence that identifies key issues and challenges in public health system research, policy, and practice. Altarum developed several products that serve as the background and basis for expert discussions on research gaps and future opportunities. Through a series of Web-based discussions with nationally recognized experts in public health, research priorities have been established in PHSSR organization and structure; financing; data technology, and methods; and the public health workforce. The information produced from the Web series is being used to define, shape, and implement a robust research agenda in which RWJF and others are able to invest wisely and thoughtfully.
