Altarum Institute works with states to identify specific challenges, issues, and priorities that impact Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) service delivery and operations. Examples include:

• Participation trend analysis
• State funding formulas
• Barriers to and best practices for participation and retention
• Non-participation by WIC-eligible individuals
• Surveys, focus groups, and onsite data collection from staff members and participants

Altarum has recently embarked on the first year of a 3-year customer service assessment of states in the USDA Mid-Atlantic Region. The Altarum team will analyze service delivery policies and practices, staffing patterns, and participation trends, and it will conduct focus groups with current and prospective participants.
