Ann Arbor, Michigan – January 2002 – Altarum has won a large three-year contract to provide HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) support services to the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH). Together with the Michigan Public Health Institute (MPHI), Altarum will assist MDCH with making the Michigan Medicaid Management Information System compliant with HIPAA transactions and code sets requirements. This contract represents a continuation of HIPAA support that Altarum has been providing to MDCH for almost two years. Altarum staff have assisted the state with project organization and management, test data generation, gap analyses, and HIPAA training. Throughout this effort, Altarum staff have garnered high praise from the MDCH customer. This new award reflects the MDCH customer's faith in Altarum based on first-hand experience over many months. Altarum is looking forward to three more years of successful collaboration with MPHI and MDCH in meeting the HIPAA challenge.
