ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Altarum Institute has been named as one of the Washington, D.C. area’s “Excellent Workplaces” by The Alliance for Workplace Excellence.  This year’s winning companies represent more than one million employees from organizations of all sizes and in all sectors—private, public, and nonprofit.

“Fostering a sense of collegiality and community is core to who we are,” said Altarum President and CEO Lincoln Smith.  “To receive this external recognition reaffirms what we already feel at the office every day—Altarum is a great place to work.”

The Alliance has recognized the Washington, D.C. area’s best places to work for the past 11 years.  Award applicants must undergo a rigorous assessment process led by an independent review panel of professors, Ph.D. professionals, and doctoral candidates in business, industrial and organizational psychology, and human resources. 

This year’s award recipients will be recognized at The Alliance for Workplace Excellence Annual Awards Luncheon on June 1 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center.  Sixty-seven Washington, D.C.-area businesses will be honored at the event, and more than 600 area business executives are expected to attend.

The Alliance for Workplace Excellence (www.excellentworkplace.org) provides a portfolio of services that allow employers to build excellent places to work.  It created the Workplace Excellence and Health & Wellness Trailblazer Awards to highlight businesses that promote professional fulfillment and personal wellness at work, at home, and in the community.  The Alliance is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded by Montgomery County, Md., and Discovery Communications.
