Our management approach is based upon nearly sixty years of experience with established procedures and experienced personnel. At Altarum, every client counts.
Altarum is a nonprofit research institute, working to become the nation’s preeminent provider of objective health systems research and solutions.
Our diverse staff brings real-world experience to support the delivery of high quality care to individuals, families, local communities, members of the military, and veterans. We also research and model the policy, process, technology, and cultural changes needed to enable a future health care system that values health and is sustainable.
Altarum traces its history back to 1946 with the founding of the Willow Run Laboratory in Ypsilanti, Michigan. In 1972, the Willow Run Laboratory was renamed the Environmental Research Institute of Michigan (ERIM). In 2001, ERIM acquired Vector Research, Inc., a leading provider of health care forecasting models and decision support tools for federal and state government clients. Later that year, ERIM became Altarum Institute. To further advance its strategic growth in health care, Altarum acquired Health Systems Research, Inc. (HSR) in 2006.
Although Altarum Institute is headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Altarum's largest office and most of the professional staff are located in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area. The Institute also has operations in San Antonio, Texas and Portland, Maine. Government personnel depend on Altarum's experience and innovative work, resulting in a high rate of repeat business and steadily controlled growth. We are fully qualified to perform GSA Schedule 70 work. Our success with information technology projects is supported by our established methods, including:
Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Program
Altarum's software practices have been inspected by the Internal Revenue Service as part of its successful TIPSS program. Altarum was certified as an SEI Capability Maturity Model (CMM) Level II firm and applies these repeatable management procedures to GSA tasks.
Quality Assurance Procedures
Altarum has established a quality assurance (QA) program in conjunction with its SEI program. QA is built into all Altarum efforts, from the development of detailed project management plans to thorough testing of products.
Effective Planning
Altarum's planning process is automated around workflows. This enables us to communicate electronically with clients and meet their requirements in a timely manner while maintaining stability and quality.
Client Focus
Altarum is committed to client focus. As soon as a Delivery Order is awarded, we customize our procedures to fit your needs, including:
Tailoring Altarum's existing management and QA plans to be specifically aligned with the requirements of the project.
Establish a management information sharing network with Altarum's GSA staff. This will be the basis for sharing information on the availability and qualification of personnel and for processing Altarum's responses to delivery orders.
