Altarum Institute Annual Reports

2009 Annual Report Cover2009 Annual Report    (File size 1000.0 KB)

In 2009, there was much to make us proud. Our operational performance was beyond expectation. We continued to grow organically, hired nearly 85 outstanding new staff members, and stood up our Systems Research and Initiatives operating group. But perhaps nothing is more gratifying than looking back on the dozens of research and consulting projects that we conducted and seeing that we could, in fact, change the world—or at least change the parts of the world that we touch through research, analysis, and consulting.

For Altarum Institute, 2008 was a culminating point in which we began
to see how years of internal transformation had prepared the Institute to take on heightened leadership in the health care debate that lies before the nation. Of course, we know ours will be one voice among many. Yet we are confident that, because of the steps we have taken these last few years, Altarum Institute is uniquely positioned to help shape and inform critical debate and, ultimately, implement and evaluate resultant policies and programs.

We look back on a very successful 2007 and see three overriding themes in our accomplishments: refining our mission, broadening our impact, and ensuring financial stability. We sharpened our focus on what it means to be a leading nonprofit health systems research institution; we increased our reputation as objective thought leaders and agile problem solvers in our chosen fields; and we continued to demonstrate the financial performance required to secure our long-term future and enable institutional growth.

2006 Annual Report    (File size 2632.0 KB)

The past year has been one of extraordinary accomplishment for Altarum Institute. In 2006, we began full implementation of a strategic growth plan that is positioning Altarum  to become the nation's leading provider of objective health systems research and solutions.

2005 Annual Report    (File size 231.0 KB)

In 2005, Altarum Institute began an important transformation. It was the year that the Board, management, and employees alike agreed that, to become a truly great and enduring institution, we needed to tighten our focus and sharpen our mission. After months of strategic review and evaluation, we knew that the most singular contribution we could make to the public good was to concentrate our skills and our resources on an agenda of improving human health.

2004 Annual Report (HTML)

As you review the Altarum 2004 Annual Report, we hope it will quickly become apparent to you that our Institution has seen another year of solid financial growth and impressive programmatic and technical accomplishments. Altarum is continuing to make a positive impact on the wellbeing of society.

2003 Annual Report    (File size 231.0 KB)

Three years ago, with more than 50 years of successful history, Altarum set out on a path of re-invention. Our name comes from the Latin altus, which conveys a sense of vertical dimension -- from the depths to the heights. So for us, the opportunity was to build off our deep roots in pioneering scientific research and to accelerate technical innovation that enables technology to serve society. What a difference three years make! With this first Altarum Annual Report we begin to tell the story of how the work we do has a positive impact on our customers and, through them, society.
